This guardrail’s double W-shaped panel design provides 70% higher impact absorption capacity compared to single-wave guardrails, effectively dissipating kinetic energy from high-speed collisions in mountain curves. The cross-braced round steel posts, spaced only 1500mm apart, enhance structural stability by distributing impact forces to the surrounding soil, preventing post deformation or collapse. Its Q355 high-strength steel construction resists permanent deformation even after collisions from 15-ton heavy-duty trucks traveling at 90 km/h, complying with NCHRP Level 5 crash test standards. The triple anti-corrosion treatment—hot-dip galvanizing plus epoxy coating—resists rust, moss growth, and ultraviolet radiation in high-humidity mountain environments, ensuring a service life of over 35 years. The 3M EGP retroreflective sheeting maintains high visibility even in heavy fog and rain, which are common in mountain areas, reducing the risk of accidents in low-visibility conditions. Its modular de.sign allows for installation in complex terrains such as narrow curves and steep slopes, providing continuous protection without compromising performance.
Each linear meter weighs approximately 85 kg, with a double W-shaped panel measuring 620mm in width, 85mm in wave height, and 4.5mm in thickness. The supporting round steel posts are 165mm in diameter and 5.0mm thick, equipped with 100mm*5mm cross braces to enhance lateral stability. The hot-dip galvanizing layer has a minimum thickness of 90μm, meeting ASTM A123 standards, while the top epoxy coating has a thickness of 70μm, providing superior resistance to mountain moss and fungi growth. The 3M EGP retroreflective sheeting is 180mm wide, bonded to the top edge of each panel, and complies with ASTM D4956 Class 1 standards for long-lasting high visibility. The connection system uses 12.9-grade high-strength bolts with reinforced flange bases, ensuring secure installation in rocky mountain soil. The guardrail has an impact resistance capacity of ≥120kN and a freeze resistance rating of ≥-40℃, making it suitable for high-altitude mountain areas with extreme cold. All components are pre-fabricated to ensure precise on-site assembly in remote mountain locations.
This reinforced guardrail is essential for mountain sharp curves, continuous downhill sections, cliffside roads, and high-altitude mountain highways, where vehicle run-off incidents pose a fatal risk. It is installed along embankments, cliff edges, and valley sides to prevent vehicles from falling into deep gorges or steep slopes during high-speed collisions. Mountain tourist road authorities use it to protect scenic areas while ensuring visitor safety, as it can blend in with natural landscapes when coated with earth-tone colors. It is also used in mining access roads and forestry roads, where heavy-duty trucks travel frequently, to protect both vehicles and natural resources. In areas prone to landslides, it can be integrated with slope stabilization systems to provide dual protection against traffic accidents and geological hazards. Additionally, it serves as a temporary barrier during mountain road maintenance and repair projects, protecting construction workers from falling rocks and passing vehicles.
