The extreme thinness (typically 1-3mm) and sharp abrasive grains ensure minimal cutting resistance and a narrow kerf (saving material). Multi-layer fiber mesh provides high tensile and impact strength, preventing wheel breakage under high-speed rotation and side pressure. Fast cutting speed but relatively short life.
Diameters range from small 100mm to large 355mm, with thicknesses like 1.0mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm. Abrasive is mainly brown aluminum oxide (for metal) or black/green silicon carbide (for stone). Safety speeds are very high, commonly 80 m/s or 100 m/s.
Widely used for on-site cutting: rebar, steel pipe, angle iron, stainless sheet; tiles, marble, granite; concrete pavement or precast elements. Categorized as metal-specific, stone-specific, or multi-purpose general. Must be used with the angle grinder guard.
