Offers excellent versatility and high cost-effectiveness. The abrasive grains are sharp and possess a degree of self-sharpening, reducing the risk of loading during grinding. The vitrified bond provides good form retention and stability, accommodating higher grinding pressures.

Common outer diameters range from 100mm to 400mm. Typical grit sizes range from #36 to #80, suitable for operations from roughing to medium precision. Hardness grades are usually between K and P. The standard bore size varies with the outer diameter. Maximum operating speeds typically range from 35 to 45 meters per second.
Primarily used for rough grinding and conditioning of ferrous metals such as carbon steel, alloy steel, and malleable iron. Commonly found on bench grinders and pedestal grinders for tasks like weld seam grinding, casting flash removal, sharpening common tools (e.g., chisels), and surface cleaning of non-precision parts. Not recommended for grinding hard metals or high-hardness materials.
