Constructed from Q345 low alloy structural steel, this pole has a wall thickness of 5.0mm, providing exceptional load-bearing capacity to support large traffic signs up to 8 square meters in area and 800kg in weight. Its surface is treated with hot-dip galvanization (100μm thickness) followed by a reflective warning coating (50μm thickness), which has a high reflectivity of over 80% at night, ensuring clear visibility of traffic signs for drivers from a distance of 500 meters. The pole is equipped with a cable stay reinforcement system (4 steel cables of 12mm diameter) to enhance wind resistance, capable of withstanding Grade 13 strong winds (wind speed up to 40m/s). It pre-reserves multiple adjustable mounting holes with a spacing of 150mm, adapting to different sizes and types of traffic signs. The silver white base color with reflective yellow stripes on the lower section improves the pole’s own visibility, preventing vehicle collisions in low-light conditions.
The pole has an overall height of 12 meters, with a tapered octagonal cross-section that transitions from 320mm at the base to 140mm at the top. The wall thickness of the main body is a consistent 5.0mm, ensuring uniform structural stability. The flange plate is 700*700*18mm, made of high-strength carbon steel, with 10 M24 bolt holes for secure connection to the concrete foundation. The hot-dip galvanization process complies with ASTM A123 standards, providing excellent anti-corrosion performance for highway and coastal environments. The reflective warning coating uses high-intensity prismatic reflective film, which meets ASTM D4956 standards, maintaining high reflectivity for over 10 years. The total weight of the pole is 380kg, and it can support a maximum sign load of 800kg. The cable stay system uses galvanized steel cables with a breaking strength of 150kN, connected to the pole at 10 meters height and fixed to ground anchors at a 45-degree angle.
This highway traffic sign octagonal pole is primarily used in highway construction and renovation projects, including inter-city highways, urban expressways, national and provincial highways, and tunnel entrances. For traffic management departments, it can be installed at highway intersections to mount large direction signs, guiding drivers to choose the correct lanes and exits, reducing traffic accidents caused by wrong turns. In open highway sections with strong winds, the cable stay reinforcement system ensures the stability of large warning signs, preventing them from being blown over by strong winds. In tunnel entrances, it can mount speed limit and warning signs to remind drivers to slow down, improving tunnel traffic safety. It is also suitable for installation in mountainous highway sections, where its high-strength structure can withstand heavy snow loads and strong winds, ensuring continuous and reliable traffic sign display in harsh weather conditions.
