The cartridge filter/housing is a critical device in water treatment systems for achieving high-precision particulate removal. Its core is the diverse range of replaceable filter cartridges, such as depth filtration melt-blown Polypropylene(PP)cartridges, high dirt-holding string-wound cartridges, and pleated membrane cartridges(made of materials like PES,PVDF,Nylon)offering absolute filtration ratings. The filtration rating covers a broad spectrum from 0.22 microns(sterilizing grade)to 100 microns. The equipment features a compact design with low pressure drop, effectively protecting downstream expensive membrane elements(e.g.,RO,UF membranes)or process equipment from particulate fouling. Its disposable nature the risk of cross-contamination,making it highly suitable for applications with stringent hygienic requirements, such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and electronics industries. It is typically equipped with inlet/outlet pressure gauges;monitoring the rise in differential pressure allows for accurate judgment of cartridge clogging, enabling predictive replacement.

Standard cartridge lengths are 10,20,30,and 40 inches. The housing is primarily made of 304 or 316L stainless steel. For high sanitary standard applications, the internal surface requires a high-grade mirror polish(e.g.,Ra≤0.8μm).A single housing can accommodate from 1 to multiple cartridges(e.g.,3,5,7 cartridges)to meet different flow rate requirements.Common connection sizes range from DN25 to DN100,using flanges,Tri-Clamp fittings,or threaded connections. The design pressure is typically 0.6 or 1.0 MPa.The top cover commonly features a quick-opening design(like latches or swing bolts),allowing easy opening and closing without special tools, greatly simplifying cartridge change-out operations.

This filter plays an indispensable role as the"guard filter"in Reverse Osmosis systems, typically installed before the high-pressure pump to remove particles≥5 microns, serving as the final barrier protecting the RO membranes. In ultrapure water systems,sterilizing-grade 0.22 or 0.45 micron cartridges are used for final filtration to ensure microbial water quality standards. In the electronics industry(e.g.,semiconductors,integrated circuits)for ultrapure water preparation,it is a core device for particle removal. The pharmaceutical industry uses it for particle control in Water for Injection(WFI)and Purified Water systems.Furthermore,it is widely used in cold aseptic filling in food and beverage, oil purification in hydraulic and lubrication systems, and precision filtration of chemical process fluids.
