Quality Control and Acceptance for Overhang Fence Construction of Bridges

1. Visually inspect the alignment and straightness of the overhang fence.
2. Verify that the structural dimensions and installation position of the overhang fence comply with design requirements.
3. Check the firmness and reliability of fence connections; inspect welding quality, ensure U-bolts and brackets are fully tightened with double nuts, and confirm close bonding between vertical brackets and pier shafts.
4. Inspect the coating quality of the overhang fence through on-site sampling and visual examination; check the treatment measures for damaged zinc-infiltrated layers at field welding positions.
5. Chemical anchor bolts shall be adopted for bar planting, with pull-out resistance testing conducted as required.

Installation and Construction Technology

All prefabricated components and walking slabs shall be fully equipped and loaded in accordance with the specifications and quantity requirements of each bridge, then transported to the construction site. Materials shall be manually unloaded at appropriate positions at the bridge head, and brackets shall be installed by manual lever hoisting.

(1) Before bracket installation, clean dirt and impurities on the pre-embedded U-bolts at the beam edge, repair or replace damaged nuts, and chisel off protruding concrete at the bolt roots.

(2) Install brackets sequentially from one end of the beam to the other, and fasten double nuts in a timely manner.

(3) Prior to handrail installation, conduct a preliminary horizontal adjustment on the installed bracket columns to ensure the top elevations of columns are roughly consistent, so as to realize smooth connection between handrails and columns.
